Support Local Businesses
Small business survival ensures the livelihood of communities
When we shop in our small Solana Beach community mom and pops or in independent boutiques, our dollars stay in the community and help local development. Our small businesses, especially brick and mortar, are major contributors to the heart of our community. Cedros and the 101 have become a hubs of activity, where businesses, developers, and the local government have worked collectively to create and preserve the character of Solana Beach. As an entrepreneur and Ambassador for the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce, I will work to propose ideas that strengthen these relationships in support of the broader business community.
Prioritize Community & Cultural Development
Making our community better from the inside
Community development is a process where Solana Beach community members can come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common local problems. Greater community wellbeing (economic, social, environmental and cultural) will evolve from this type of collective action being taken at the grassroots level. I will be focusing my support for community and cultural development through a number of community priority areas which include young people and cultural diversity, as well as specific critical social and cultural issues requiring focused attention.
Advocate for Affordable Housing
Affordable development has economic benefits that go beyond the scope of housing
The development of affordable housing will have a positive impact on our community. Providing housing that is affordable to single working professionals, young couples or families that work, visit or covet Solana Beach allows them to contribute economically, decrease their traffic imprint and become an even more invested member of the community. And for those of you that take pride in Solana Beach being an affluent community, affordable housing in Solana Beach will never be cheap. I will make this a priority because it provides economic benefits and contributes to other local issues such as increased traffic.
Leading Solana Beach into the future
For my entire life, I have committed myself toward being a leader. Whether in sports, in my community or in business. For me, leadership starts with the ability to make good decisions, surrounding yourself with good people and empowering others to become leaders themselves. As a city councilmember, I will use a simple process to ensure good decision making. That process is made up of three questions:
- Why are we doing this?
- How much will it cost?
- When will it happen?
Keeping the community informed
I consider myself a great communicator while others may say that I talk a lot. No matter what you think, as a city councilmember I will dedicate myself and use my expertise to communicate the goals and policies of the city to the community.
Champion Community Values
Building bridges to connect the community
As a father of two small sons, I look forward to contributing to the future success of Solana Beach to make it a better place for them and other families to live. As a city Councilmember my goal is to bring Solana Beach closer together to create a greater sense of community whether you live East of the 5 freeway, West of the 5 Freeway, the La Colonia area or right on the water.
